Nicky

Nicky, 5, passed away from complications due to congestive heart failure this weekend. He was a good cat and he was very loved.

Nicky loved food (particularly chicken), getting his special snack of heart meds daily, yelling for attention, sleeping on his side of the bed, shedding his long fur on his favorite chair, playing with wand toys, and having his fluffy belly pet. He tolerated his brothers, Kuiper and Boots. He did not like being told to stop knocking over the trash can.

He was part of our family for three years, and the story of how he joined us is unforgettable. Nicky showed up on the back patio as a skinny, scraggly street cat full of fleas and matted fur. He was friendly from day 1, chirping and waiting at the door for us whenever someone was out of the house. We took some time to get to know him, and realized that he would be happiest as an indoor cat. When I picked him up from the spay/neuter clinic, one of the vet techs came running out of the back to give him one more kiss before he left because he was just that sweet.
