In Loving Memory of Ruby Baker
2012 – 2025
Ruby, our beloved English Mastiff, crossed the rainbow bridge in the summer of 2025, From the moment she came into our lives in August 2012, Ruby filled our hearts and home with the kind of love that only a truly special soul could give.
She was just a pup when we met mostly legs and ears, scared and unsure, but with eyes that spoke volumes. Her stare was something else deep, soulful, as if she could see straight into your heart. That night, around 1:30am, she chose me. I’ll never forget it. I met her dad, Toby, and her sister too, but it was Ruby who reeled me in. Taking her home that night remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Ruby was truly one of a kind. My mom called her “ Saint Ruby”, and it couldn’t be more fitting. She was well behaved, easy to train, patient, and wise. Everything about her was perfect: her temperament, her loyalty, and that big, beautiful heart. She had the sweetest personality and gave the kind of love that stays with you forever.
She loved the simple joys in life: playing in the snow, catching snowballs mid air, enjoying a relaxing car ride, and laying outside in the fresh air with her family. She especially loved bath time and playing with the hose in the yard. And though her little sister Xena drove her a bit crazy at first, Ruby loved her deeply and looked out for her with the gentleness of a true big sister.
Her bedtime zoomies were legendary, and she had this hilarious way of covering her eyes with her paws while making the silliest noises, baring all her teeth in a way that made everyone laugh. And no matter how old she got, she never stopped doing that classic puppy head tilt whenever she heard something strange. It was her signature.
Ruby was not just a pet she is family. A queen in her own right, a saint in her soul, and a constant source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. For 13 beautiful years, she stood by our side, and I would choose her a thousand times over if I could.
She may no longer be by our side, but she will live on in every snowfall, every peaceful breeze, and every quiet night when the stars shine just a little brighter.
Rest easy Ruby. You were, and always will be, a perfect girl .
